Dextra Laboratories, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Summit plc, has an established world-class reputation in the area of carbohydrate chemistry and has unrivalled and innovative scientific expertise in the synthesis and manufacture of carbohydrate based targets.  Dextra has recently commissioned two state of the art GMP kilo laboratories for the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

We are seeking excellent graduate and PhD level chemists to provide high-quality synthetic and analytical carbohydrate chemistry services within our newly established GMP laboratories.  Both positions will work under the guidance of a Senior Chemist in performing tasks on assigned projects. In addition both roles involve some liaison with customers and attendance at project meetings, both internally and customer requested.

Synthetic chemistry candidates will be actively involved in various projects involving the manufacture of API to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Analytical chemistry candidates will be involved in the planning and execution of analytical projects with minimum supervision.

These positions require a chemistry degree or equivalent. In addition Synthetic Chemists will have demonstrable knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and excellent practical synthetic chemistry skills. Analytical Chemists will have demonstrable knowledge of HPLC and HPLC method validation and experience in working to a recognised quality standard.

In both roles, the successful candidates must be able to work to deadlines, have good computer literacy skills and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. These abilities will be complemented by a positive, can-do attitude to work.
